Taran Taaran Scarves

Taraan Taaran is a label that produces timeless and luxurious hand-woven textiles.

They are a delight to wear; these subtly shimmering scarves are generous enough as a shawl for the evening, as well as being light, soft and warm to wear throughout the day.

Bonita Ahuja, the designer behind the label says of her textiles,

"I make hand woven textiles, which go through myriad processes so that they become even more precious and enriched. These include hand stitching into the weaves, embedding vintage fabrics into them and playing with light and reflection.I take inspiration from objects and places that radiate a sense of quiet beauty."

Yohji Yamamoto

We were really lucky last week when we decided out of the blue to take a trip to London to see the Yohji Yamamoto exhibition at the V&A before it finished, as we managed to get tickets for his Fashion in Motion show held in the Raphael Gallery.

The event featured Yamamoto's spring/summer 2011 collection, including menswear which was inspired by the V&A's textile archives.
The garments were modelled by real life couples, an idea he first incorperated into his 1999 S/S menswear show.
Yamamoto became internationally renowed in the early 80's for challenging traditional notions of fashion by designing garments that seemed oversized or unfinished, he is also known for his unusual pattern cutting and frequent and skilful use of black, a colour which he describes as "modest and arrogant at the same time".
So for those of you that sadly wouldn't have had chance to see the exhibition here's some of the highlights,
and for most of us who can't afford Yamamoto take a good look at Ivan Grundahl, inspiration is everywhere.

Well, the weeks have been flying by in a flurry of deliveries here in store. Finally there's time to start showing some of the marvellous spring/summer 2011 collections before they all get cherry-picked!
One of our most eagerly awaited jewellery makes is Ayala Bar, and here is an absolute show-stopper. This piece is from the "Hip" collection, which is particularly appealing to us as it is inspired by and includes the use of printed textiles, semi-precious stones, mother-of-pearl and other natural materials.
